Summary |   |
Avenue is an object-oriented semi-compiled language. Its mains disavandages are the impossibilities to create object classes and to include ActiveX Dlls. ArcView (versions 3.nn) is written with Avenue: therefore, the same code can run on the different supported platforms.
Avenue is although powerful and extensible enough to enable many things.
Furthermore, it's possible to customize ArcView interface without writing any code: "Project" menu include a "Customize" command which enable you to redefine all options and buttons, or to add yours. Since ArcView 8, the programming language is VBA. | |
